  1. What is Payroll Point?
Technically speaking, this is a "mashup." A mashup combines several separate data sources into one useful online tool. These data sources are good when independent but even better when joined together. We combine the accurate tax data from PaycheckCity's tax engine with leading-edge mapping technology with the geospacial boundary maps for jurisdictions. The result is a powerful online tool that allows payroll professionals to get the right taxes, THE FIRST TIME.

  2. How does Payroll Point work?
A user simply enters a person's resident address (and work address in the Professional version) and with one click they see all the associated payroll withholding taxes for that address. It is simple and accurate. Additionally the address is pinpointed within an online map.

  3. What is the difference between the Lite Version and Professional Version?
Payroll Point Lite provides the withholding tax jurisdictions that apply based upon the exact street address of a person. Payroll Point Professional goes much deeper by factoring in resident address, work address and the employer nexus. Reciprocity rules that may apply are also considered. Additionally, the actual tax rate is provided with the Professional version (along with some other helpful features).

  4. What is nexus and why is it important?
Nexus literally means "connection." In the world of withholding taxes, it matters if an employer has a busiĀness presence (nexus) within a state. Payroll Point Professional factors in an employer's nexus as it relates to the proper withholding taxes displayed.

  5. Why is knowing an employee's proper withholding tax info such a big deal?
Properly setting up employees within an employers Payroll/HR system is crucial. This means getting the payroll withholding taxes correct. Employers are subject to significant fines if they fail to properly withhold payroll taxes.

  6. How can you afford to give away Payroll Point.com for free?
Similar to PaycheckCity.com calculators, we give away the "lite" version for free. We have learned that this is a great way to promote our technology and draw prospective customers to our website. Many folks will find the Lite version is.... well..... too light and will upgrade to our Professional version with its premium features.

  7. Will PaycheckCity calculators ever be combined with Payroll Point features so that this type of intelligence is within your calculators?
Yes, someday PaycheckCity calculators will have Payroll Point tax lookup features built in. Not by next Thursday, but someday soon.

  8. This is really cool. Does Symmetry have other products that might help me?
Great question and the answer is yes. Go to our corporate website www.Symmetry.com to learn about the Symmetry Tax Engine, StateW4.com and PaycheckCity.com. And of course, if you are a payroll professional, don't miss our sites, Payroll-Taxes.com, PayrollTalk.com and PayrollGoddess.com.
